(BESHA Students training profile)
BESHA Health Training Institute (BHTI) aspires "quality health training". From the beginning, two Departments of Clinical Medicine and Health Laboratory sciences proceeded by the Department of Community Health. Yet Department of Nursing is expected to be launched in the near future. Arrangements have gone three-quarters way.
The BHTI has its focus on all fronts of the training and is on its journey towards developing benchmarks and quality graduates.
The medium of communication is English, and working closely together, the BHTI and BHC offer an ample opportunity for a good learning environment for both theoretical and practical/clinical practice for the students.
The training programs of the Institute have been adopted from the curricula developed according to the "National Council for Technical Education (NACTE)" requirements. In this regard, NACTE has a mandate to facilitate the review of traditional curriculum currently being used by training institutions.
Under the influence of NACTE, products from technical institutions should be of high quality and respond to changing needs of the country as well as technological innovations in the world.
Institutions are therefore required to ensure that training programmes are supported by curricula, which are developed according to NACTE requirements.
Using NACTE guidelines, the Department of Human Resource Development in the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDGEC) has developed the Technician training programme which is modular operating under semester structure and leads to a Basic Technician Certificate Award ( NTA Level 4), Technician Certificate Award (NTA Level 5) and Ordinary Diploma Award (NTA Level 6) of the respective programme. This facilitates a large degree of flexibility for the graduates' future development.
