BHTI - BASIC INFORMATION

1.INSTITUTE LOCATION:

BHTI is located in Tanga City, TANZANIA, about three(3)km south of the City Centre and the main Hiace (Matatu)-Bus  Stand. It is in Mabawa ward   and easily  accessible by taxis and town –buses (Hiace or Matatu) going to Donge, Mikanjuni/Magaoni or to Tanga Beach Resort.

2.VISION:                      

To become a centre of excellence that offers high quality health training,

research and public health service in Tanzania and East Africa Region.

3.MISSION :

To continuously establish, promote and provide affordable high quality training in clinical    medicine, medical laboratory, pharmacy , nursing and  other related  health Sciences that prepare graduates to perform competently in health  care services.

4.OBJECTIVES OF THE INSTITUTE:  

To create in (Tanzania and East Africa Region) a place  where  knowledge will be transferred from one gene-ration to another, a place where through relevant   teaching and learning processes human capital vested with knowledge and skills for economic development of the nation.

5.ACADEMIC  ACCOUNTABILITY:

Through the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) and Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW) of Tanzania

6.COURSES OFFERED AT BESHA HEALTH TRAINING ISNTITUTE CURRENTLY:  

Ordinary Diploma Course in Clinical Medicine

Ordinary Diploma Course  in Medical Laboratory sciences

Ordinary Diploma Course in Pharmaceutical Sciences

IN NEAR FUTURE Ordinary Diploma Course in Nursing

7.STUDENTS:

 There is no typical  student of BHTI.

8.Every corner of Tanzania is represented, Male and Female.

9.Foreign Students   from  English Speaking Countries  also have a place.

10.Students fresh from Form  Four and Six taking the chance to seek for a Diploma Course of the noble profession of Medicine.

11.Students  come  from  different  faith tradition.

12.INSTITUTE :   ADIMISSION REQUIREMENTS

i. Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Medical Laboratory Sciences

According to NACTE and MOHSW :  - D grade in Physics,Chemistry and Biology including minimum of any other two subjects excluding religious  ones.

ii. Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences - D grade in Chemistry and Biology including minimum of any other two subjects excluding religious  ones.

iii. Applicants n with  foreign  Certificates will be required  to submit their certificates to the  national examination council  of  Tanzania (NECTA) for equivalence.

13.FACILITIES:

BHTI is furnished with lecture rooms and administrative offices, Library, Student Residence, Cafeteria,   Recreation area and Play grounds.
